If you want to bring a desk phone from the office, and your office network uses VLANs for the VoxSun phone system, you'll need to deactivate your phone's VLAN. You can do so by following these steps on your phone's screen:
1. Press on the "Menu" button on the phone. This is the fourth button from the left.
(If your phone displays something other than "Menu" at this location, click on the "X" button below the arrows to close the pop-up.)
2. Navigate to "Settings" and then to "Advanced Settings.”
3. The phone will prompt you for the administrator password. You can try typing in the word "admin,” all lowercase and without the quotation marks. If this password does not work, you will need to contact [email protected] to request the administrator password for your phone.
4. Navigate to "Network,” then "VLAN" and then "WAN Port.”
5. From this screen, use the right or left arrow button to change the "VLAN Status" field from "Enable" to "Disable.”
6. Press on the "Save" button.
7. Press on the "X" button below the arrow keys to close the menus. At some point the phone will automatically reboot.
After the phone reboots, it will no longer be usable in the office and you'll be able to plug in to a non-VLAN network.
When using your phone on another network, please ensure that the SIP ALG feature on the router is disabled and keep in mind that file transfers might impact voice quality because of the lack of ActivVoice QoS technology if you don't have a VoxSun router.
When you want to re-enable the VLAN on your phone, follow these steps:
1. Press on the "Menu" button on the screen.
5. From this screen, use the right or left arrow button to change the "VLAN Status" field from "Disable" to “Enable.”
6. Press on the "Save" button.
7. Press on the "X" button below the arrow keys to close the menus. At some point the phone will automatically reboot.
